The Journal of Systems and Organizations on Nationalism (JSON) implements a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of published articles.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the Editorial Team to assess their suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, adherence to author guidelines, and compliance with ethical standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

JSON applies a double-blind peer review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and contribution to the field

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope

  • Methodological rigor and validity

  • Clarity of presentation and organization

  • Significance of findings and practical implications

4. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Accept with major revisions

  • Reject

Authors will receive reviewers’ comments and are expected to revise their manuscripts accordingly within the specified timeframe.

5. Revision and Final Decision

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

6. Publication Timeline

JSON strives to ensure a timely review process. The average review period is approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the revision process.
